Con's of energy efficiency: It may be hard to borrow money to specifically do energy efficiency upgrades, unlike solar panels installation where there are existing products designed for that use. Additionally, pursuing energy efficiency upgrades may involve retiring household appliances or HVAC equipment before the end of its useful life. It also usually takes some investment in expert analysis before the actual level of savings can be determined.

APS have 3 tiered rate plans to choose from; saver choice, saver choice plus, saver choice max. They also have 3 time of use rate plans; lite choice, premier choice, premier choice large.

The time of use plans offered by APS really incentivize not using power in peak times (3-8 pm weekdays). If you use little to no power during this time, switching to one of the time of use rates could lower your bill. Although, it is difficult to tell exactly how much without knowing usage patterns.

Our website provides a comparison of the APS time of use plan to the tiered rate plan most APS customers are on but the thing to remember is that these plans are designed to offer a similar overall cost to the average consumer with average usage patterns.

What this means is that if your power bill is between $80 to $120 then it is likely that both residential options will work out about the same.

Once your usage gets above about 1300 kWh per month then you start to have the potential for savings by swapping plans but only if you can use a limited amount of power between the peak periods.
